Untrained, I work extensively (and intuitively) with elements of the natural world that present themselves to me. As a result, the discovery is always a surprise; an unexpected gift. Stunned by the sheer geometry of what I find, I am in awe of these treasures. Such shapes and grains I could not envision on my own. I rarely know where the process of adorning them will lead, but the journey is one of beauty for beauty’s sake.

Karen Pierce Gonzalez is an award-winning, self-taught artist. Her mixed-media and assemblage artwork and color photographs have appeared in several West Coast galleries as well as in numerous magazines, including The Storms: A Journal of Poetry, Prose & Visual Art; FERAL: A Journal of Poetry and Art; Nightingale & Sparrow Literary Magazine; Four Feathers Press’s Specters/Spirits, Wishes; Cassandra Chorale (Ice Floe Press); and Tidings (Anomaly Poetry), Sebastopol Center of the Arts, and Truckenbrod Gallery. She is a 2022 National Arts Program Featured Artist (USA), and lives in the North San Francisco Bay Area.
