Looking into Sunset

This piece started with the blue in the upper left corner. My friend and I were playing around with paint and as soon as I put the paint on the canvas, my friend had to leave. I wasn’t sure what to do with blue paint in the top corner as I wasn’t used to using acrylic in a collage. So, I brought the canvas home and cut out the face of a Madonna from a photograph I had taken at a California Mission. I placed her where she asked to be, and built the rest of the collage around her, using whatever resources I had at home. She ended up “Looking into Sunset” and there she gazes for all time.
